Builders give kids the VIP treatment

When you are redeveloping large swathes of Lower Broughton, with plans for over 3,500 mixed-tenure homes over the next six to eight years it pays to keep the local youngsters on side and off your building sites.

That’s why 200 lucky children from the Lower Broughton area were treated to the first Super League game of the season – Salford City Reds vs. Leeds Rhinos – courtesy of Countryside Properties, Contour Housing Group and Salford Reds themselves.

The children from The Friars, St. George’s and North Grecian Street Primary Schools and Albion High School in Lower Broughton were taken there and back on transport provided by the partners.

Much to the kids delight, they went onto the pitch before kick off and released 200 Countryside Properties and Salford Reds balloons to mark the start of the work on site at New Broughton.

Karina Schwarzer, Community Liaison Officer at Countryside Properties , said: “We have started to educate children in the area about safety on-site and have a number of other activities in the pipeline.”

Meanwhile, only a handful of properties within the first release of phase one at New Broughton.

Currently one of the largest regeneration projects taking place in the UK, New Broughton features a variety of one and two bedroom apartments and three and four bedroom homes, phase one will see a mix of private for sale and affordable residential accommodation alongside retail and commercial accommodation alongside retail and commercial opportunities.

The substantial regeneration of the area aims to create a new beginning as a sustainable community with a prosperous future.

The properties have been designed around a courtyard layout to encourage a sense of community and create an area where residents can meet. For security and peace of mind, access is gained via electronic gates. Each property has an allocated parking space.

Prices for three and four bedroom homes start from £159,950 to £176,950.
