The Countryside Properties and Harlem Globetrotters ambassador day was a great day out for all involved.  Twelve children from two local schools (The Friars and North Grecian Street) took part in the event and spent a couple of hours with Mike 'Wildthing' Wilson listening to how he succeeded in the world of basketball and how the children could do the same!  He also showed off some legendary tricks from his extensive collection and as well as shooting some hoops with the children. The session ended with a real treat for the kids - a signed basketball by the maestro himself. The lucky children also watched the Globetrotters play at Manchester's MEN arena stadium.

Les Brown from Countryside Properties commented:  "The ambassador event and competition have been a great success.  All the children had a fantastic time at the event and we are grateful to the three schools that took part, Salford Community Leisure and the Harlem Globetrotters for spending their valuable time with the children.

  • Countryside Properties sponsored the Manchester leg of the Harlem Globetrotters UK tour and as part of that we wanted to thank the Lower Broughton community for its participation in the redevelopment plans for the area."
  •  Chris Smith, Senior Community Sports Development Officer of Salford Community Leisure Ltd added: "It's been a fantastic opportunity for young people living within Lower Broughton, to take part in development sessions, mini games, competitions and then to learn how to play "Globetrotter style".  This scheme has boosted the interest for basketball within the local schools and community, and will be included in future programmes."
  • I'd like to thank The Friars, St Boniface RC and North Grecian Street for their support and attendance throughout the sessions leading up to the competition and the ambassador's visit. A special thanks must also go to Fit City Broughton, Countryside Properties and The Harlem Globetrotters for this excellent opportunity, I know all attendees appreciate your commitment."
