Contour Housing's ground breaking plans to provide affordable housing in Lower Broughton have been given the green light by the Housing Corporation with a £8.1m grant from it to fund the provision.
- The decision by the Housing Corporation is great news," said Mike Creamer, Chief Executive of Contour. "This means we can progress with the first phase of our plans which will see 102 properties being developed.
- Contour has spent considerable time in liaising with potential new residents and other stakeholders," said Mike Creamer. "We have facilitated drop in surgeries as well as spoken to residents in their homes to gauge their opinions. Residents have expressed their desire to have true mixed tenure estates to promote social inclusion; improved road and public transport infrastructure and want the partners to look at ways in which crime can be reduced."
- Contour boasts strong links with the area as it owns and manages 685 properties in Salford, 379 properties in Broughton itself. In addition, the company will be moving into brand new offices in the Salford Quays area of the city where 160 staff serve the whole of the North West region.
- Contour's strong links with Salford and our considerable expertise and knowledge of the area is going to prove very useful over the next few years," said Mike Creamer.
