200 lucky children from the Lower Broughton area were treated courtesy of Countryside Properties, Contour Housing Group and Salford Reds on Sunday 11th February to watch the first Super League game of the season - Salford City Reds vs. Leeds Rhino's.
The children from The Friars, St. George's and North Grecian Street Primary Schools and Albion High School in Lower Broughton were taken there and back on transport provided by the partners. Much to the kids delight, they went onto the pitch before kick off and released 200 Countryside Properties and Salford Reds balloons to mark the start of the work on site at New Broughton.
Karina Schwarzer, Community Liaison Officer at Countryside Properties, comments: "This exciting initiative was part of Countryside Properties and Contour Housing Group's continuous investment into the local community.
"As work continues on site at New Broughton, we feel it is important to keep the local community involved and up-to-date with the activity that is going on. We have started to educate children in the area about safety on-site and have a number of other activities in the pipeline."
"It was great to be able to treat the children to such a good day out at the famous Salford Reds and involve them with an activity at the beginning of the match and during half time when they carried out some training with the Salford Reds." added Shahzad Tahir, Regeneration Manager at Contour Housing Group.
Mark Brocklehurst, Community Liaison Officer at Salford Reds, also summed up the day;
"We want to express a big thank you to Countryside Properties, Contour Housing Group and the local community for co-ordinating and participating in the event to make the day a very special one. Moving forward we are very much looking forward to continuing the relationship with all three partners."
Developed over the past three years in conjunction with the local community, Salford City Council and Contour Housing Group, Countryside Properties has started constructing phase one of the development. Sales within the first release of phase one have been overwhelming and further properties are due to be released.
